Macbeth Proposal
Paragraph #1:
In class we are reading Macbeth, a play written by William Shakespeare. The storyline is that Macbeth, Thane of Cawdor comes across 3 witches who show Macbeth his future which is that he will become King of Scotland. Macbeth believes them because 2 other things they predicted came true, he starts to get impatient waiting for the thrown and one day he kills their king, Duncan. After that event Macbeth became paranoid that other men who worked for Duncan began to catch on to what he did, so he killed them too. Macbeth was crowned king because the two sons of Duncan fled shortly after his father was murdered. Macduff, friend of Macbeth is suspicious of Macbeth so he went to find Malcolm in England, the eldest son of Duncan so he would come back to rule Scotland. The problem is that when Malcolm comes back we’re not sure what Macbeth is going to do. He’s killed so many to have that title and maybe he’ll kill Malcolm too.
Paragraph #2:
One possible outcome that I believe will happen when Malcolm returns to Scotland from England is that Macbeth will be in complete shock that he is back and he’s not going to want to kill Malcolm, but instead would kill Macduff for “betrayal” and get caught by Malcolm who will then expose them and have them killed. I think that the maybe the purpose of the story is that Macbeth and Lady Macbeth will get caught in one of their acts, because it just seems like all stories need a fair ending and if that weren’t to happen then it would just be any other story. When and if they get caught, I think that it will have a large impact on Malcolm and he will change from the person he is to the leader his father would have wanted him to be. He might also want to personally kill Macbeth and his Lady himself. Afterwards he will take become king of Scotland. He will then need his brother Donalbain who will come back and help him rule Scotland.
Paragraph #3:
Another possible solution that could happen would be for Malcolm to return to Scotland and Macbeth would kill him so he wouldn’t take his part as king of Scotland. If he were to kill Malcolm then he would try to kill Macduff for being the one to bring him back, but by the time he would attempt to kill him, Macduff would try to fight back and then he would have a group of men kill Macbeth along with him. After Macbeth’s murder, Macduff would become king of Scotland. Donalbain would continue to live in Ireland for a few years until he felt old and mature enough to take on the responsibility of becoming the ruler of Scotland. If Macbeth is murdered by either Malcolm or Macduff then maybe then I feel that Lady Macbeth won’t be caught for her schemes and then will kill Malcolm because she will blame the death of her husband on him. Then once she kills Malcolm she will remarry another man who could potentially be in line for the thrown…
Paragraph #4:
The problem in the play is that Macbeth has killed many men to become king. He shouldn’t be king because what he did is wrong and listening to those witches was a bad idea, if he continues to listen to them then someday they could drive him to do something crazy. Which kind of makes him a puppet to someone evil and deceiving. What needs to happen is for Scotland to crown a new king who has real plans for the country not just being king for the title and the money. The best way for this issue to be resolved would be for Macduff to become king of Scotland. I don’t think that Malcolm is fit for the title since he still needs to learn the true value of becoming a ruler. I feel that Macduff is worthy of taking on the position because he knows what to do in harder situations and he is also loyal to his country. He knew when Macbeth was planning his scheme to take over and he did the right thing by going to get help from Malcolm and that is why Macduff should be king.
