Bipolar Disorder
Emily Madera and Gillian Gans
Project Description:
Bipolar disorder is an emotional disorder that affects a person in their behavior. They have mood swings and change the way they act from one day to another. They also have episodes including manic and depressive episodes. As we studied Bipolar Disorder for this project we saw that there were some things that could help a person calm them down when they have an episode. We read that art therapy was helpful because it helps people destress. The reason we choose patterns was because it’s more complex and revolves more thought out.
Essential Questions:
Why do you feel that you choose these colors?
Is there a reason you painted your stone a certain way?
Product:
For our booth we want people to paint rocks to express themselves in the colors the choose and the patterns they make. We are using acrylic paints in bright and dull colors. We hope that the type of patterns show how a person is feeling, for example simpler patterns show a calmer mood. More complex patterns show that there is more going on in a person. Also bright colors show more happiness within. For our final product we created around 20 rocks, they are all different in colors and patterns.
Resources:
Stones
Acrylic Paints
Pens
Brushes
Glitter
Sand
Artificial Grass
Flowers
Wood plank
Timeline:
Find stones to make sample rocks
Look for patterns to paint on rocks
Paint stones with patterns
Add rocks to Zen Garden
Make table booth sign
Create a space for our final work
